Robert Heathcote trained pair Buffering & Hopfgarten board the plane to Melbourne tonight bound for Gr1 glory down south.
Hopfgarten will run 1st up in Saturday’s $400,000 Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield, where he’ll be handicapped very well down on 54kg. He’ll then go onto the Gr1 Toorak Hadicap, on Caulfield Guineas Day – Saturday the 10th October.
Buffering will run first up in the 1000m Gr1 Moir Stakes on Friday the 2nd of October at Moonee Valley, a race that he’s twice won previously at 1200m, with the race shortening to 1000m this year. He’ll then run in the Manikato Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley on October 23rd, with a fortnight into the Darley Classic at Flemington, on Emirates Stakes Day on Saturday November 7th.
Both look in mint condition in their coats to run well in what are sure to be tough races.
Buffering’s win in the 2014 Moir Stakes.
