Race 1 – 2 BADCOE
BADCOE’S last run at Cranbourne in a 1200m maiden race ran terrifically well, without an ounce of luck……. from a good barrier (Moody colors, white blue/white striped sleeves, blue & white cap) jumped well and landed 3rd the fence in a good trailing spot.
BADCOE travelled very well in transit, but nearing the corner got strung up in traffic and couldn’t quiet get a clear run around the corner. Notice the horse in the black, red and white coming around the outside KENTUCKY FLYER, who was the eventual winner…He got plenty of momentum up whilst Badcoe was still held up.
(Kentucky Flyer came out last Saturday at Moonee Valley and won very well again, in 3yo handicap grade carrying 59kg)
BADCOE was still caught up in behind the leaders looking for a run at the furlong pole, and whilst he tried for the inside runs it just never presented and he had to check off the heels of the leading pair.
He lost 2 or 3L when having to come around the heels of the leaders and as Kentucky Flyer dashed for home and put the race to bed, Badcoe was practically stopped to a standstill.
Kentucky Flyer went on to win, but Badcoe after being held up, borked for runs, then checked of heels and stopped in tracks, picked himself up again late and found the line well to finish in 3rd beaten just on 3L, by a horse like mentioned previously, came out next start in a quality open 3yo Saturday race and won again. It was a very good run without any luck by Badcoe and he was also heavily backed to win so someone thought something of the horse! To form is very hot through Kentucky Flyer. He’s drawn wide but I suggest Stackhouse will ride him aggressively to slot in up on or near the pace. There’s a couple of unknown ooponents which is a;ways a query and Vicious for Team Hawkes is a smart horse but BADCOE is a great each way bet.
He’s currently showing $6.50 with CrownBet.
