(5 star special)

Our Gold Coast track spy is supremely confident that this boy can get the cash for our latemail service again today. Rarely do we have two 5-star selections in a row but that’s what’s happened in this case!

He’s had only the two race starts.

On debut he got very hot and bothered before the race, getting completely overwhelmed by his first day out at the races. He sweated up, proved very difficult to load and ran around like a drunken sailor once they got going. Completely forget that run.

2nd up he showed what he’s really made of. He was forced to get back worse than midfield from a horror barrier and was momentarily trapped wide in the early stages also. There was a tearaway leader in the race and that forced Byrne (who rides again today…..big tick!!) to take off before the 600m and try to get at the leader.

He had to come extremely wide on the corner while the winner got the lovely run through. Once he balanced up in the home running he really attacked the line well and was only beaten a short half head, but would have won in 5 more metres. He ran the fastest last 600,400 and 200m splits in the race and worth noting that it was run on a soft track so today’s Soft 6 surface holds no fears.

Today from barrier 6 he’ll be able to land more forward in the race and not be having to chase from so far out. The rise to 1350m suits as well judging purely off the way he ran through the line in his last start. Meanwhile the 1350m doesn’t suit the race favourite Slippery Saga who leads but doesn’t finish his races off, getting the staggers up late!

Our man says his track work down the Gold Coast in the lead up to this race is that of a horse who “will not lose”. He’s very confident.

The only thing that is a tiny doubt said our informant is that the horse is “a bit on the immature side”, so wait until before the jump to back him to make sure he doesn’t go to pieces like he did on debut. If he turns up ready to race he’ll be winning, running right over the top of the favourite who’ll be sitting down late.
