A female trackwork rider has passed away after a fall at Caulfield on Wednesday morning, Racing.com reports.
The Melbourne Racing Club released statement, saying: “The Melbourne Racing Club can confirm that a track rider suffered a fatal riding accident at Caulfield racecourse in the early hours of this morning.
“The next of kin has been notified and the club will release further details once the family has been contacted. Out of respect we’d appreciate media treating the matter with sensitivity and discretion.
“The club is conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of the accident in conjunction with Victoria Police and Work Safe. The club is not available to comment any further at this stage.”
This is the second fatality at Caulfield trackwork this year.
Lizz Rice, who worked for Aquanita Racing, died in January after suffering serious head injuries.
