The new Free-to-air digital racing channel, Channel 78 racing will finally launch today as it kicks off with coverage of the Pakenham meeting today. 

“Channel 78” is Channel 7’s latest digital channel and will telecast all Victorian thoroughbred races live. 

In the short-term “Channel 78” will only be available in metropolitan parts of Australia or to regional viewers with a digital TV or Digital set top box. 

Racing Victoria has stated it’s high on the priorities list to telecast it’s races to all of Australia via “Channel 78”, by negotiating a deal with Foxtel and by negotiating with Sky Channel to start showing the Victorian thoroughbred races again. Talks with Tabcorp, which operates Sky Channel are well underway.

When it’s officially launched on August 29, “Channel 78” will provide live Victorian racing coverage on all meetings as well as other racing based programming on a 24/7 basis.
